I think I still had a few lingering Christmas decorations up at our house when COVID-19 began to shut down our world. All of a sudden the fun we have writing this blog and shopping for Christmas décor and crafting our holiday goodies became such a distant interest to us.
We have all gone on a tumultuous ride these past few months; a roller coaster of emotions, a new appreciation of our family and homes, a loss of jobs or cut in pay, and a sadness for all that we have lost during this pandemic.
We are starting to come alive, though!
For our family, my three daughters will start summer day camps soon. We have a beach vacation planned. Just the other day, my husband and I ventured out to a restaurant for the first time in months to celebrate a much-delayed anniversary dinner. We still live with anxiety and fear, but we are focused now on trying to bring back some sort of sense of normalcy…..normalcy with face masks and lots and lots of hand sanitizer, of course!
Normalcy for me and for my Christmas Gal partner Shendra means getting back to what we love – Christmas!
As Shendra and I begin to plan our topics and posts for the coming months, we are keeping in mind the very different way we are all approaching shopping, decorating, engaging with our families and children this year. With those changes in mind, we are hoping to offer a few topics that may interest our readers more during this unique COVID-19 time.
As I write this, there are 200 days until Christmas.
That means 200 days to continue to celebrate the ‘reason for the season.’
That means 200 days we can share and teach and create with our children at home.
And, that means 200 days that we can find ways to rejoice for what very well may be the most meaningful Christmas holiday in a very long time.
Sending love and prayers and good health to all! Welcome back to our ‘normal’ and a very Merry Christmas!
