‘Tis the Season Christmas store a must visit

Tucked away in the hills of Amish Country are a number of attractions that draw in hundreds of  thousands of tourists from around the world; hearty plates of roast beef and mashed potatoes at Amish restaurants, stores filled with beautiful hand-crafted furniture, and cheese, lots and lots of cheese.

For The Christmas Gals, our favorite destination in Amish Country (Berlin, Ohio) is ‘Tis the Season, a year-round Christmas store that has become (to us) the very best attraction in this tourist mecca.

‘Tis the Season labels itself as the largest Christmas store in Ohio.  Boasting more than 20,000 square feet of jam-packed, over-the-top, beautifully decorated trees and décor earns the label as not just the biggest store, but the best Christmas store in Ohio (and beyond).

There are three floors that make up ‘Tis the Season; the first and second floor are meticulously decorated and include a variety of themes in each room, from patriotic to rustic to vintage inspired trees and décor. The ground floor is a showroom of trees and lights, along with a curated collection of ornaments by Christopher Radko and Olde World Christmas.

A view from the second floor. Each room has a different theme with hundreds of ornaments and décor to compliment the theme.

The Christmas Gals are lucky enough to live just 40 minutes from ‘Tis the Season so its become a tradition that we visit several times each year. We walk the store. We take pictures. We oogle over the displays. And we shop….a lot.

This patriotic themed tree and display greeted us during a recent visit to ‘Tis the Season. Remember Christmas Gal Shendra’s patriotic tree…yep, she picked up a few items from this display.

Maybe its clichéd to say the store ‘has something for everyone.’ But, it really does…personalized ornaments with staff on site to customize with your loved ones names…vintage inspired décor that would compliment your family antique decorations…hard to find specialty lights (like really hard to find lights…ones we haven’t even been able to locate online).

Jam packed with character….tables, trees and every niche of the stores includes some of our favorite Christmas finds.

INSPIRED

As Christmas décor shoppers who have traveled hundreds of miles to see different stores, there are plenty of stores that sell ornaments and trees, but really offer little inspiration or ideas.

‘Tis the Season delivers onhttps://www.tistheseasonchristmas.com/ inspiration. When we shop, we have a tendency to dissect what we see and figure out how we can recreate on our own. Sure, we do that at this store, but we are also a little in awe of just how much inspiration there is at this store. Its one of the best that we’ve experienced and each visit we are pleasantly surprised by new trees and displays.

This Santa mantle display is a staple at ‘Tis the Season. Each visit, though, we find it includes different Santas and new pieces.
The vintage inspired Santa collection featured at the store is one of our favorites.

GIFT IDEAS: On the second floor is a small room with a great variety of movie or TV themed ornaments, along with kid favorites like Peppa Pig, Bumble and Star Wars. Its actually one of the smaller, least decorated rooms, but has a great offering. Prices range from $3 to $15.

Most of the trees throughout the store are completely updated in the springtime, and then again closer to the Christmas season. We make an annual trip the weekend after Halloween when everything is primed and ready for Christmas. Don’t expect any sales, but expect their very best selection this time of year.

This new tree to one of the upstairs rooms included some great inspiration for our own trees…the Santa mailbox wired into the tree, Rudolph hanging in a red tin and gold spray at the top.

If you can imagine it – they have it. And they even have a few things you haven’t imagined yet!

VALUE

There is an expectation when we shop a specialty store like this, that prices will be high. Visit after visit, we have been pleasantly surprised to find most prices fair, even a good deal!

An additional 50% off? YES!

‘Tis the Season has an annual after-Christmas sale which should not be missed. And, we recently discovered during a summer visit that a sale barn placed outside of the store was jam packed with deeply discounted items.

These Santa figurines greeted us in the sale barn. Marked down to only $5!

FAMILY TIME

Like most Christmas stores, there is a hesitancy for us to bring little ones who touch too many things and bump into expensive displays. We don’t often bring our kiddos to this store, but we both have had occasions over the past few months to be in the area with our kids. Its really impossible to not stop by, kids or no kids.

We’re happy to report there were no ornament casualties, and honestly, even our littlest ones were so excited to see all of the trees and ornaments, we didn’t worry about the possibility of an accident.

Holy Nutcrackers! Literally hundreds greeted us one of the rooms at ‘Tis the Season.

Whether you’re located in the mid-west or live further away, ‘Tis the Season is worth the trek. Make it a girls trip or family time to take in all that Amish country offers, but don’t miss this special festive stop. ‘Tis the Season is open year round, Monday through Saturday.
