Help others with a reverse advent calendar

A reverse advent calendar is a day by day calendar used during advent season that has you and your family offering gifts to those in need instead of receiving gifts of your own.

As a means to truly capture the meaning of the season, a reverse advent calendar can offer your family valuable lessons in giving, charity and community.

Start by setting aside a large box or bin where each days’ gifts can be gathered.

Acts 20:35 In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

Next, print out your calendar which lists the needs of most food pantries. Many of these non-perishable items listed on the reverse advent calendar you might already have in your own home.

Fill your bin and once you have reached the end of your advent calendar, deliver the donated items to a local food panty or food bank.
